If the administrator has allowed it you can register an account. To register an account you will have to be logged out. On the userbar there is a link called "Register a new account", click on that to begin the registration process.

Terms and Conditions

First you will be met by some terms and conditions for registration. You can either agree or disagree. If you agree you will be met by a registration form. If you do not agree with the terms and conditions you cannot register on that forum.

Registration form

The form contains several fields that you have to fill out. Some boards may have additional fields that will not be documented here.

Username

The username is a name that you identify yourself with. You use it when logging in and it is what other people will know you by. A username has to be unique.

The username can only be changed by an administrator and it is likely that they will refuse to change it, so choose carefully

Password

The password is assigned to the username you choose and you use it to identify yourself as the owner of a username. It is used when logging in and when changing certain profile information.

E-mail

The e-mail is used by the forum to contact you. If you loose your password you can have a new one sent to the email you have specified. As some forums require email activation you will have to make sure it is valid.

Time Zone

In order for the forum to correctly display dates and timestamps for you, you will have to choose the timezone which you are in.

Word verification

Some forums require a form of verification known as CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart). It is, as the name tells, used to verify the visitor as a human. It is generated dynamically and all the user has to do is to type whatever letters and numbers or word the image contains in a form field. If the image is unclear or not easy to read, try click on the plus sign to generate a new one with the the same content.

When you have filled out the form, click on the register button and depending on the forum settings you may be finished.

Account activation

Depending on what settings the administrator has set you may have to verify your e-mail as valid through a link sent to the e-mail you specified at the previous form.
